Beaume de Venise Rouge 2004, Gigondas La Cave

We have been following the wines from Gigondas La Cave for a couple of years now with interest. There have been some serious changes here that have seen a huge improvement in quality. They have reduced the number of their contracts with growers from 300 to 82 and employ a strict process of grape selection at the winery to ensure consistency of the quality of the grapes, refusing any that are below expectation. We tasted many wines from their portfolio, but this wine really stood out, especially from a new Cru.

A few years ago Beaume de Venise was promoted from Côtes Du Rhône villages to a Cru in its own right, following in the footsteps of Vacqueyras. This elegant , soft wine has plenty of depth and complexity to offer exceptional drinking now and is a must. Drinking now through to 2010.
